Classic Space & Alien Conquest Mono-Wheels . A single-wheel, all-terrain moon buggy. . A red spaceman is busy exploring a planet on a mono-wheel. His is smiling because he has just swapped a pair of bell-bottomed, tartan spacesuit trousers for a new record called "Holiday in Cambodia" on the Intergalactic Swap-Shop. He is hoping that it will be a happy song, like "Summer Holiday" by Cliff Richard. Another mono-wheel is roaming around nearby. Its colours are not the normal grey of a Classic Space landcraft. This mono-wheel also seems to be left-hand drive, which is very strange, weird, odd, unusual, peculiar and alien! Suddenly the alien mono-wheel revs its engine and goes flying off on a course to intercept the red spaceman. It is one of the crew from Jaws of DEATH!!! come to finish the job. If you look carefully at this photo, you can see that alien has driven through a blue, stinky space cow-pat in his hurry for revenge! The alien fires a bolt of energy from the large Kill-o-Zap blaster mounted on the side of his mono-wheel. The red spaceman is oblivious to all of this because the biggest problem with the mono-wheel was its huge blind spot. Like a true 80s minifig, he just keeps on smiling & driving, whilst humming ABBA's "Waterloo" to himself. Will he survive? Would he be safer working for the Outer Reach Research Team? Who knows until I build another MOC in the series... A side view of the Classic Space Mono-Wheel. A side view of the Alien's Mono-Wheel. A whirly GIF of the Classic Space Mono-Wheel. A whirly GIF of the Alien Conquest Mono-Wheel. Note that this mono-wheel has a windscreen because aliens never wear space helmets with visors. Unfortunately, this alien's eyes bulge out on either side of the windscreen, rendering it pointless. Then again, apparently there's no air or wind in space... :) I was inspired to build these MOCs by those big, old Technic tires again. They go so well with minifigs, like my first Monster Truck and my A.D.U. Uni-bike and always make me smile! I've used Photoshop on the first and fourth photos to artificially increase the depth of field of my camera. The left and right sides are two different photos, stitched together. If you look at the studs on the baseplate, you'll see that their focus varies in a strange manner.
