Oric Vardis, Leader of the Toxic Tribe, codename "Harmful" . Posting my last MOC first, it turned out that it's gonna start with the Toxic Tribe. This is part of the Hero Works/ Freedom Fellowship-Conflict. .
Introducing Oric Vardis, called Harmful.
Origin: Tekuhero Biomech
Affiliation: Freedom League
Weapons: the Vitriolance, causes deep, corrosive damage, that eats fast through the opponents body.
It also can be used for the Toxic Transformation.
Capabilities/strengths: Caustic Clash: corroding every metal surface, he comes in contact with. This effect isn't very fast, but continuous, if not neutralized. Physical power, durability, considerable agility for his size. Toxic Transformation: other biomechs are given corrosive powers by a special usage of his weapon.
He leads the Toxic Tribe, warriors with venomous powers. Once they were citzens of Tekuhero City, then treated by Oric and tought to fight in the poisonous way.
What is poisonous to metal? Right, any corrosive, caustic substance, vitriolic fluids.
Brutok Ferroklast, better known as „Maximus“, was roaming the region, searching for new followers. He found Oric Vardis, just graduated as an aspirant for the HW Elite, because he was large and powerful and proud. But unfortunately he had become a victim of a flock of Corrodex and, very likely, a Contaminax wich almost hurt him to decease.
He was saved, but the intense contact with the mix of Corrodex' and Contaminax' toxines changed him forever. It was never heard, that one had survived such an attack before. He got corrosive powers himself now, but without being affected by them, like the Corrodex are (like all the other mutants they don't get old). The Doctor helped him to build his weapon, a spear, the „Vitriolance“. Corroding almost everything it touches but also with the power to convert other biomechanical beings into toxic ones.
After he gathered his first followers he began to oppose against Maximus, because he became more aware of how dangerous his power really was. He no longer accepted orders, feeling not obliged anymore and obviously forgetting how he once was saved.
Maximus was wise enough to avoid any serious confrontation, and Harmful became quite independent so sometimes their cooperation gets diffcult.
Showing his back. He seems to have big musculi latissimus dorsi. Indeed his physical strenght was once famous among the elite aspirants. Now Norm Tunser has taken the place as Lieutenant, that was foreseen for Oric. But he went through the "valley of death" and returned even stronger.
Showing more details, going from head to toe. In the meantime i revised his forearms and the rubberband was removed.
His body is based on a trapezoid-frame, almost "titan"-size, which provides waist-articulation.
His hips are really narrow for his size. The greeblings are custom-parts.
Like the arms, the legs are double-type constructed, sturdy and surprinsingly movable. Although they are looking strange in many positions. More armor could have been added, but this reduces dramatically his poseability.
Who said polearms are impractical? The Vitriolance ist folding!
I'm not really satisfied with the color-scheme. Due to lack of parts, i had to use more dark grey.
Little action-scene with a standard Humax-trooper to demonstrate posability. No supports used.
Just some more action shots. I made them when i already revised the forearms.
"Stay down, Humax-scrap!"
"Whoops, you ran into my swing...dzdzdz"
"Uh-oh, you ran into my kick, don't do that! It's unhealthy for you substandard scrap!"
Finally i revised the hips. The assembly lost a bit of rigidity, but i was never that happy with the former one, which was sturdy, but unattractive.
Thanks to Clever Crowe and Reaper the Ultimate Harmful has armor on this important location.
I admit it kind of really rounds him off.
When i started this MOC, i had several tasks in my mind: titan size, trapezoid frame with double shoulders and hips, sturdy, as simple as possible, as many HF-parts as possible. I tried for a new basic layout for this size. I'm fairly satisfied, but it was more difficult than i thought, and i lost some of the simplicity i sought, due to the need of attachement-points for some armor.
Ok...Harmful looks plain, a bit boring, has a lot of gaps, many poses look strange with his limbs.
But i like it that way. I wanted an impression of brute physical strength with an intrisic dangerousness and making it playable.
