"The world has changed..." . "...Much that once was, is lost." . My entry to the "Modern Landscape" contest, hosted by ABS Forever. I only realized this contest was up and running about a week before it's end, and had to scramble to get something together. Unfortunately, I just didn't have the time or pieces to implement my vision before the deadline, so at 7:00 the last day I was faced with a very clear issue: attempt to finish my project, ensuring the final prodcut would be sloppy and under my standard? Or simply accept that this time, I would not be able to post? Well, anyone who knows me at all knows I'm not one for picking a required choice. I decided to reevaluate my take on the category (which is no doubt going to show up in a future MOC) and start completely afresh. My only choice, therefore, due to time and piece constraints, was miniscale. The issue of deforestation and the destruction of tropical environments on Earth is not a simple one. Many support it, saying it is a necessary evil for human expansion. For some, it is their livelihood. But the simple fact remains: we are destroying more than our planet can create. God gave us only one Earth, and we're destroying it. The landscape isn't much at all, and the modern aspects are miniscule, if that. Is this entry up to the standards of a MOC I would normally post? Not really. I would have liked to spend more time on multiple things: experimenting with fire and tree techniques and redesigning the vehicle, at the least. But, I wanted to enter at least something, and I had to make do with the time I had. I hope that I have not insulted or offended anyone with this MOC. If you are not someone who cares much for this issue or similar ones, it is none of my business and I have nothing against that. But I feel strongly about this, and decided it would be a good topic for an entry, seeing as the modern world is meeting nature here, perhaps more fiercely than anywhere else. Thanks for the look, and Soli Deo Gloria, -A M
