LOTR - Helm's Deep . The more sets the merrier! The official Helm's Deep set is very nice, but the orc ballistas are going to get over those short walls in no time. Doubling the height helps, but a higher rock base is needed before a achieving a satisfying proportion. . This was built last summer before the hobbit sets, so Fenris wolves took over for wargs. Originally the backgound painting was going to be detailed and finished. After roughing in the design, the loose look seemed dramatic and would set off the bricks better. Viking woman standing in for Éowyn. (hope the offical Éowyn is out soon with both lady clothes and Dernhelm garb.) Inside double deck section. Upper floor is expanded banquet room. Lower floor is a stable for the Rohirrim's beloved horses. Detail of the expanded banquet hall. Two stalls. Entrance to caves. Total faux, no depth. Other side of expanded back section Patio outside the stables for chilling between battles.
