2013 MocAthalon Wolf Pack: Frog and Lilypad . . 2013 MocAthalon Wolf Pack This is for category #21: Will It Float? Several years ago, Dave Kaleta challenged his students to build floating creations. Now, the challenge is passed on to you. Build the biggest and/or best looking floating creation you can manage. You must provide a picture of the object maintaining position above the water line, aka floating. When I first saw this category I thought it would be pretty easy, after all, all you have to do is make it large and light. Well, I went and built a compact and heavy frog and a fairly small lilypad and after that I began experiencing difficulties. I am very glad that I got this finished at all. My frog can float for fairly extended periods of time but certain unconnected or poorly connected sections will begin to drift. You can see this in the main picture where his flipper is beginning to separate. Here you can see the unfortunately ugly weight I had to use to balance out the heavy frog. I removed it for my previous pictures (besides the floating one) so it will balance on my photo stand. Thanks for viewing this!!
