DCU - BatMech X - LDD [Batman themed mecha] . I've sold out... . Latest retool of my X Series HardSuit design. This time outfitted for the Caped Crusader. Created mostly to try and get a "popular" concept on Cuusoo to raise my profile a little as anything "Superhero" seems to be more active than new concepts and ideas. LDD seems to be misbehaving today so I'm not sure how this will download if anyone tries, some parts disappeared when I was looking at it earlier. To be honest this IS my X Series X666 unit, but with a couple of minor changes. The addition of the wing pack is new, it is hinged so it can be positioned to the rear, but has no vertical tilt, think of them more like deployable gliding wings that need to be in a fixed position for flight. The body has been altered only slightly, as I wanted Batman to sit higher in the seat (I had to, the new chest came up to his nose) I needed to bring the cockpit in a little at the front. I realised as I was doing the retooling, that the only thing holding the original together was the pilot sitting on the two plates that form the hinge for the cockpit door and the main body, so I've placed these two plates on top of one another so he's standing on the resulting 2x1 base rather than joining the 2x2 base. I removed the gun and lance weapons from the original. My plan was to add a large bat themed weapon, maybe a sword or large batarang, unfortunately my early designs looked stupidly large so I scrapped them. Maybe in version 2.0 I will work something back in. As this is VERY close to my other X Series models, I'd like to make some (more) Batman themed changes. So far the main visible changes are the wings and the spiky forearms, a hint to the spikes trailing from the actual Batman's gloves. I'd also like the suggestion of a utility belt. But the main change is that while I still love the gorilla like footprint this design has, it doesn't say "Barman" to me, so I may redesign the foot/legs in a version 2.0. Because LDD lacks the relevant stickers, Batman is pretty plain. There are no decals for his chest and his trademark utility belt is missing. Due to space limitations he has no cape either. I'm considering a much larger mecha with space for his cape (or at least storage to remove it) within the cockpit. Another idea I have is a transforming mecha. I've seen some great Batmobile transformers on the net and they have given me a few ideas as to what I'd like it to be capable of doing. As I've not MOC'd on this scale for a few months I'm struggling to get my head round some of the engineering requirements, so I may mock up a micro-scale non piloted version first to see if my ideas are feasible. I'll post the finished product when I have something. As of 09:08 28/05/2013, the Cuusoo project is still not live, which is unfortunate as between here, flickr and DeviantArt the project already has over 100 views. I think in future I will not post the projects elsewhere on the net till the Cuusoo project is live. I'm particularly proud of the bat symbol, it's functional too as the batarang can be removed for Batman to use when not piloting the mech. It should be noted as this is a version of the X Series units, Batman CAN be removed. NOW ON Cuusoo As always comments and ratings welcome, spam and abuse will be deleted and/or reported.
