Part 0: High King Bartok . When he inherited the Duchy of Rainos at age twenty-two, King Bartok led the clan chiefs of that island in rebellion against the High King of Mythron, winning freedom for his country and eternal fame for himself. Here he is. . I am Bartok of Rainos, and I stand in the great tower of my ancestral castle, where I have stood on many of the most important days in my life. I stood - knelt - here on the day my uncle conferred the blow of knighthood upon me, with my father standing behind him. He thought it would be a good idea to perform the ceremony in full armor, including his gauntlets. That was also the first and last time a knock on the head left me unconscious. I stood on these tiles three months after my father left me the duchy, surrounded by the chiefs of the clans, from William the Scarred to Greg son of Grog, and I asked my countrymen to join me in rebellion. I stood before this window five hard years later, complete with an atrocious beard, when the Archdruid of Hadran placed a crown upon my head. Our fight would not end for another sixteen years of bloodshed and horror, but we already believed in our eventual victory. The chiefs and lords swore fealty that day, and only later did I discover that they had seen the matter in an entirely different light. I stand here today, older and wiser. My castle is an island in the center of an island, which itself is a sea of anarchy. The Rainosians are fiercely independent, and fearlessly face their trouble alone. They see no need for a king, but I stand here all the same- waiting to serve my country. ~ ~ ~ Review- This was a very quick build, and for those of you who have been following my work in the Lands of Mythron, this will be my last one for a long time- maybe even a week. With this build, I am now the official faction leader of Rainos, which is by far the coolest part of the group. If you at all like castle or fantasy RPGs, join us today/tonight/now. I tried to mimic the Forest Maiden minifigure's shield emblem on the floor with mosaic techniques that swallowed up all my cheese wedges. The rest of the MOC fell into place around this.
