Leith: Toa Kueva of Plantlife . Here's a re-work of one of my classic characters. Background story at the bottom. .
This Toa has seen the heaviest revamp out of all of my "good guys" (original here). When I first built him, I made him a Toa of Lightning, thinking of the color combination (green+blue=air+water=thunderstorm). However, as Bionicle's story evolved, Toa of Lightning became canon and exclusively female, which left me with a small conundrum: how do I conform to Bionicle's canon while also keeping to the spirit of Toa Leith? In my research I found that Toa of Plantlife have a green/blue color scheme, so I figured "Heck, why not?" and went with it. So here he is, re-imagined and re-designed. This also gives him character development beyond "Tohuka's lackey", which I will touch on later.
Here's the back. The disk launcher is there for decoration and to give some texture to the body. This is also my second Toa without an Inika torso. Admittedly, I do like the Inika bodies as it makes creating a team of poseable Toa simple and straightforward. It is nice to experiment with new ideas though and I also lacked a dark green torso piece. Two birds with one stone.
The new arm design. I don't have much to say beyond "what you see is what you get.
The back of the arm design. It looks somewhat like he's walking away, waving goodbye.
The legs. Having multiple sets of "Gali" feet was useful for this figure. I wanted to see how the classic blue would look against the dark green and I think it turned out nice.
An example of his elemental power. His Toa Tools are his gauntlets, originally his favorite pair of gardening gloves as a Bo-Matoran. Of all the Toa Kueva, Leithe is the quiet, straightforward, no-nonsense member. He holds a deep reverence for nature and takes affronts against it as an offence demanding retaliation. As a result, he struggles to get along with the other Toa save for Nimbus, the team's Water Toa. Where other Toa embody elements of destruction and change, a Toa of Plant-Life embodies the element of balance and preservation. This affects a Bo-Toa's disposition, as well. Leithe's quiet nature and his distrust of other beings are common amongst his kind, though how pronounced those traits are varies. In the end, they are inwardly peaceful individuals and allies against evil all the same.
