9496 "Desert Skiff" + 9494 "Anakin's Jedi Interceptor" Set Reviews. . This is a DOUBLE Star Wars set review. 2 Sets reviewed in 1 moc! Please comment, rate and enjoy! . Okay, so here is the set "9496 Desert Skiff". Coming from the film "Return of The Jedi." This is a remake of a very old set and this one is a lot better than the original. Here you see everything you get. The box, instructions and finished set. The Saarlacc pit is quite cool. Boba fits inside quite nicely. The mouth opens and shuts which makes for good playability. However, the base is a little boring to be honest. On the Skiff, the plank swivels so that it can be hidden in the side of the craft. The Skiff is held up on three transparent legs. There is a hidden compartment in the middle of the skiff which can be used to hide guns as shown here. Also the... wings, or whatever they are, fins I suppose, are fully pose-able. Again, more good play features. The four figures are really cool. A new Boba Fett who looks very nice and is well detailed. Even his face is nice and new and I love the tattered shoulder cape. Lando in his guard outfit is quite cool. It's good to have another Lando figure after so long. Luke in his Jedi robes is cool however he has 2 flesh hands and in the film at this point, 1 is robotic so had a black glove on. Then Kibitha, the random guy. Not sure why he's in the set. Personally I would have added Han or Chewie but oh well. If you like aliens, he's cool. Build:8/10 Figures:9/10 Pieces:7/10 Playability Factor:9/10 Value For Money:7/10 Overall:8/10 Review: A neat little set. Great fun to play with if that's what you've after. 4 good figures, although one is a bit pointless. Lots of Dark Tan pieces which is good. A bit pricey at full price. I'd say 19.99 should be the price for this one. Get this set if you want to play with it or like Dark Tan bricks. Okay, onto the 2nd set. This is "9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor." Coming from the film Revenge Of The Sith. It's a bit of a random set if you ask me. It includes his ship and then the floating platforms they duel on on Mustafar. A little strange but oh well. Here you can see the box, instructions and fully assembled set. This is the ship. A nice design actually, I really like it. The wings fold up and down with ease. I really like the look of it. Great fun to 'whoosh' around and play with. R2-D2 slots neatly into his little chamber which is quite cool rather than just including his head like previous sets have done. A good improvement. The inside of the cockpit looks a little messy and basic to me and sometimes it can be a pull to open the canopy. Here you can see the underside. These are the 2 flick-fire missiles and on the other side you can see R2's legs hanging down. The rear of the jet. Again, it looks a little rushed to me. Here are the platforms they duel on. On the left is the lava droid that Anakin balances on. Quite a good design really. On the right is the platform Obi-Wan uses. Again, quite a nice design although basic. Here are the 5 figures. I must say they are very good. Okay, so the Security droid and R2 aren't new but the other 3 are very good. The Episode 3 version of Nute Gunray looks great. Anakin is a brilliant figure and has a slightly different double sided face to the version in the "Palpatine's Arrest" set which is cool. Obi-Wan also looks good although his face just makes him look like an angry Scotsman! Nice torso though. It's good that you get so many figures with the set. Build:7/10 Figures:9/10 Pieces:8/10 Playability Factor:9/10 Value For Money:7/10 Overall:8/10 Review: It's a very fun set to play with. You can whiz the ship around and then make the guys duel on the platforms. However it feels a bit thrown together. Like the guys at LEGO have made the ship, made the platforms and though "These aren't big enough to be sold alone. I know , let's throw them together!" And then added Nute Gunray and a droid just because they could. I don't believe it's worth it's asking price. I'd have put it at around the 30.00 mark. Get this set if you like Episode 3, ships or Dark Green bricks. Thanks for viewing, I hope this has been useful. Please comment, rate and enjoy!
