Douaumont Ossuary . My entry for a contest, a French Memorial containing the remains of soldiers who died on the battlefield during the Battle of Verdun in World War I . Hi everyone, This month and until September 5, takes place on the French Forum BrickPirate a contest for members, with Lorraine theme, a French region. In the first category, the aim is to recreate a monument or a place of Lorraine in the Architecture style. So I chose the Douaumont Ossuary, a national cemetery, which was created after the battle of Verdun. It has a long cloister of nearly 137 meters with approximately 130,000 graves for unknown German and French soldiers. In front of the ossuary is a huge cemetery of more than 16,000 graves of French soldiers. Official Website to learn more !
