8070 pro mod . my 8070 modded for drag racing .
Here we have my pro-mod style 8070, i got the original car about 2 months ago, built it, and was 'dissapointed' with the amount of automated parts, and how it had a 'gearbox' that didn't change any actual gearing (lame) so the first thing i did was to remove the automation components, leaving a giant gap in the middle, but also behind the rear axle,
i didn't get any pics at this stage, but in trying to find a way to make the model better i tried the suspension first, working through damping strengths, and damper geometry / different wheels + tyres.
through this early stage, i got the model low - so low infact it would scrape on anything but dead flat worktop / laminate, and catch on the wheel arches, so i replaced the lower wishbones on all 4 wheels with the longer older type (the reason for this was to increase the camber) to tuck the top of the wheels
the engine came next - the original v8 had no detail, and i had developed the v6 twin turbo for the GTR moc, but having come up against a dead end there, i decided to transplant it into this, and further mod it with the top mount supercharger,
here you can see the turbo on this side of the engine, and the chassis reinforcement i had to put in to stop the massive flex, (the yellow dampers on the front are the originals, but the rears were changed to the dark grey type which are softer to allow the rear end to 'sit' when the throttle is planted)
of course in any motorsport application you would need some form of rollover protection, so i built this rollcage in white which does actually help with the strength of the roof, doors (which no longer open) and overall chassis in terms of twist and bend :)
there will be further mods done to this, i'm going to be building a 3 speed drag racing gearbox (3 lever type) and building a better interior (as it is it only has a racing seat - which i am happy with, but needs a dash/guages/steering)
let me know what you think :)
