F-22 Raptor v2.0 . An improvement from my original F-22: the best stealth fighter in the world. . The United States Air Force (USAF) had to make a fighter that could outperform the Soviet Su-27 and MIG-29, the F-15 and F16's biggest rivals. Because the of the Soviet's advaced fighters, the USAF held a contest to determine who would make 5th-generation stealth fighter. Lockheed Martin and Boeing entered their YF-22, while Northrop entered their YF-23. The YF-23 was faster, and stealthier, but the YF-22 was more agile. Lockheed won the contest in 1991, and the USAF planned to buy 650 aircraft. The YF-22 was the prototype for the F-22.
Production of the F-22 started in 1997, and it was introduced in 2005. The greatest fighter in the world was finally serving it's country, and setting the bar high for other 5th generation stealth fighters that would follow it. Well, that was the plan. The F-22 cost $400 million each, which is twice the price of Europe's Eurofighter. It's not very reliable, and it's terrible in dogfights.
The F-22's role in the USAF is "air superiority," but it doesn't seem to be very superior. That's why the government ended it's production in 2011. Lockheed made 195 out of the original 650 planned.
I've made the nose thicker, making it look more realistic.
I've also added more details to the top of the aircraft. Here's a view of the Pratt & Whitney F119 engines.
The rear wheels are smaller for better stability.
As you can see from the top view, the aircraft is less multi-colorful. The light grey pieces are there to give the aircraft some camouflage.
The outline shape of the aircraft still looks good.
I wish that I had dark grey wing pieces to replace the black wing pieces, but I don't. :/
A side view of the aircraft. Notice the FL letters on the tail wings. This is a tail code. I don't know what FL means. FF means Fighting First and HO means Holloman Air Force Base. WP means Wolf Pack, WM means Missouri, AK means Alaska and HH means Hawaii. Based on knowing this, I believe that FL means Florida.
Missile! Watch out!
The pilot is very focused.
Another front view.
Rear view of the wings and engines.
The wings and Pratt & Whitney F119 engines can move up and down together and independently.
Tail wing details.
Another view of the Pratt & Whitney F119's.
The landings gears.
They fold away nicely. I wish that I found a way to cover them. :/
This is a Jeep-like vehicle that carries and delivers weapons to the F-22. It was a last second build, so there's not a lot a details.
Jeep-like front end.
For every hour an F-22 flies, it requires 30 hours of service. Better get started ASAP!
Mechanics and pilots are equally as important in the USAF. Pilots receive
the glory, but mechanics get them up in the air.
Preparing for takeoff!
Now the F-22 can protect and serve America. Keeping us safe from terrorist, national security threats, and UFO's. Hopefully it won't get in to a dogfight during it's top secret mission. Seriously, the F-22 is TERRIBLE in dogfights.
