Edoth V2 . Alright people, I'm back again with yet another MOC update! This time it's a new version of Edoth: one of the Destroyer's Three; the servants of Thanatos! . “They may be my kin, but my brothers’ lack of honour I find distasteful. As blinded by your righteousness as you are, I have far more respect for you Toa than anyone else.” -Edoth to Montu, The Contenders #20 Edoth: Edoth is a knight-like demon and servant of Thanatos, the third member of the Destroyer’s Three. Like his brothers, he is incredibly strong, with an impressive power over fire, though only Edoth is as skilled with the sword. Despite being an agent of destruction, Edoth is by far the most honourable of the entourage, with a sense of integrity that often clashes with the desire of Thanatos. The knight was particularly softened by his bond with two Toa, Montu and Cilla; this bond proved mutually beneficial, as Edoth would then on strive to protect them. Preparing for battle. (Contenders #27) Edoth was the last of the Destroyer’s Three to be created by Thanatos, released into the world as a formless entity to do his bidding. Upon roaming the universe, Edoth assumed the biomechanical form of an armoured humanoid and would regularly challenge other warriors to duel with him over the fate of their world. However, Edoth was drawn away from his gallivanting by Thanatos, who took the Destroyer’s Three to the planet Racta Magna. They sought to destroy this world, for it housed a forbidden item known as the Gate, which could pluck beings out of the world of the dead and disrupt the balance of life and death. They almost succeeded, but were stopped by a team named the Toa Racta, who trapped them indefinitely in a black hole. The Destroyer’s Three. (Hunt for “God” #34) Despite Edoth being momentarily released by a mad Toa named Raznor, Thanatos and the Destroyer’s Three were not freed from the black hole until many years later, at the hand of a Makuta named Reshak. Reshak wanted them to help him resurrect his father Aroxion, and threatened to seal them away again if they refused. Though unintimidated by this, Edoth and the rest played along with Reshak for a while, fighting a Toa team named the Contenders and even attacking a city named Racta Major, until he managed to take Aroxion’s mask, crucial to his resurrection, from Reshak and his minions. Edoth gave the mask to Thanatos, who destroyed it, along with Reshak’s plan. They made short work of the Makuta and then left the Contenders’ city unharmed. Fighting Toa Montu (Contenders #10) Before he could leave the planet to return to his duty, Edoth was told by Thanatos to remain with Mordath on Racta Magna, to find a way to destroy the Gate for good. The two brothers quickly split, deciding to make this into a competition. Edoth sought out the dying species known as the Gostoks and covertly motivated them to seek out the Gate, to resurrect their kin. He then sought out two Toa, Montu and Cilla of the Contenders, and eventually gained their aid in tracking them to the Gate. During the course of this mission, Edoth bonded closely with the Toa, growing much over time and learning the both empathy and kindness. Edoth and the Toa were regularly antagonised by Mordath, who had hired Dark Hunters to help him track down the Gate. Edoth and Mordath. (Contenders #18) Eventually they lost track of the Gostoks, and after a humiliating defeat at the hands of Mordath, the Toa took Edoth back to Racta Major; Edoth was not pleased about this, especially since he ended up getting on not quite as famously with the other residents there, in light of his prior ‘allegiance’ with Reshak. Nevertheless, they banded with the other Contenders and travelled down to the land of Racta Minus, where they found that Mordath and his Dark Hunters already had the Gate. A large fight took place, during which Mordath tricked Reshak’s old servants into throwing a disguised detonator into the Gate, seemingly destroying it. Both demons were immediately returned to Thanatos; Edoth later thanked the Toa for their help via transmission. Addressing Toa Montu and Toa Cilla (Contenders #20) However, the job was not done; the demon entourage would return in one year’s time to learn that the Shadebringers, villains freed in the Gate’s destruction, had defeated the Contenders and taken over the planet. Being creatures of the Gate, Thanatos marched into Racta Major and demanded that the villains stand down, only to be rudely dismissed by them. Thanatos was tempted to let the Shadebringers have the planet but Edoth, still indebted to the Contenders, hastily convinced him otherwise. collaborating with Raxonax of the Contenders, they gathered an army of rebels and formed the collective known as the Champions of Day; with their help, the other Contenders only just managed to defeat the Shadebringers and liberate their planet. Edoth’s stand against the Shadebringers. (Contenders #46) After Edoth gave one last passionate goodbye to his Racta Magnan friends, he accompanied his brothers and Thanatos back to the stars, where they continued their eternal commission until the very end of the world. So here he is! This one isn't so much a complete redo but an upgrade from the previous version. There are a lot of things about it that remain the same; I just decided to just 'tidy up' the MOC a bit. The back. The mace in hand. I changed it from a sword because I thought the sword idea was a little boring and decided to go with something slightly more interesting. With the mace attached to the back. Compared to the Protector of Ice and the Protector of Water, the two different heights of Protector! Edoth vs Takathorax. Yeah, Edoth is on a similar power level to Thanatos, only a little less powerful. It would either take luck or a REALLY powerful warrior to defeat him. Ahh, shoulderpads. I love how they look on a MOC, but they're a nightmare for posing! The Destroyer's Three, all together! Kneeling to Thanatos. That's all, folks! UPDATE 4/4/15: Happy Easter everyone! Here's my gift to you; a couple of tiny updates for Edoth! First off, I changed out the mace for his original sword again. You guys were right; this weapon is better suiting to his character. I wasn't originally going to change it, as I thought the mace was more interesting than a generic sword. It kinda still is, but the Brutaka mold does match Edoth's look better, and the longer weapon does sort of make up for the limited shoulder articulation. Also I changed out the greebles on his thighs. Why? Because I lost one of the system teeth that was there before, and I couldn't find it again. I had to replace them, and I thought these looked slightly cooler. That's it! Little stuff, but I thought I'd let you know ;)
