LDD Preview: Micro Scale X-VVing . A micro scale Ep.VII X-Wing can be a Vic Viper, too... As every year: A tribute to Nnenn. . I was searching for a new idea for this year's NnoVVember when suddenly an X-Wing came to my mind. The basic idea was a pair of big cannons combined with the design of an X-Wing. The result is a mix of a classic X-Wing (main hull), an Episode VII X-Wing (splitting wings and intakes), a classic Snowspeeder (main cannons) and a BSG Viper (front view with folded wings). My micro scale version of the X-Wing was heavily inspired by Chris Roach's micro scale X-Wing, so you'll find some details from his X-Wing on this one (especially the cockpit section and the cannons on the wing tips). I decided to post an LDD preview, because I'm not sure if I'll find the time to build the real one until the end of NnoVVember. I'm moving into a new apartment, which is taking most of my time this month. Time for more pictures... X-Wing mode: Splitting wings and intakes like the Ep. VII X-Wing, big main cannons like a T-47 Snowspeeder Vic Viper mode: The upper wings folding down for a classic Vic Viper silhouette (similar to BSG Vipers, too). X-Wing mode: The nose is rather short compared to an X-Wing, but for a Vic Viper the cannons have to be longer than the nose. Vic Viper mode: The "hole" in the nose won't be there in the real model, LDD just won't connect the hole of the 1x1 Technic brick with the stud of the SNOT brick. So I had to use a "lamp brick" instead in LDD. X-Wing mode: The typical rear view Top view of the X-VVing Bottom View in Vic Viper mode: You can see the different types of hinges used for the wings: "Normal" hinges on the front for seamless movement and "ratchet" hinges for the rear wings locked in a -22.5 deg position. So this is my Lego micro scale "X-VVing" (X-Wing + Vic Viper) for NnoVVember 2015. I hope you like it. :-)) Update December 1, 2015: Bonus picture in Vic Viper and X-Wing mode without brick edges and with backgound.
