Colonial Fuel Frigate . . Okay. So I know what youíre thinking, and no, I havenít entered the witness protection program. Maybe I donít know exactly what youíre thinking, but at least now you know I didnít see a heinous crime go down which put my life in mortal danger, so thereís a feather in your cap. My time with LEGO has been a bit spotty over the past year. I have to admit, I wasnít having the most fun with it and had to step away for a time to proceed with other activities. (Youíll be happy to know that I can now hold a conversation about many of the wonderful TV shows made available on Netflix). The time away has recharged my creativity tanks and Iíve got a couple MOCs to show off. Unfortunately, the other one will have to wait until after BrickWorld. This one is for a project Iíve been working on for a while involving ships inspired by Battlestar Galactica. This guy is exactly 20 studs by 40 studs and although it doesnít exactly match anything that you would have seen in the episodes of the 1970ís version of the classic sci-fi serial, I sat down and studied the ships of the fleet between the internet and my best friend, Netflix, and came up with a ship that I believe would fit right in with the Colonial Fleet. Of course, I would like to hear from our communityís resident BSG experts on that. Not that I need validation, just a little confirmation to substantiate that my efforts have been approved by other people. Thatís not validation, is it? Iíll look it up. Oh. Anywho, this is a Colonial Fuel Frigate. Every fleet needs a ship that carries extra fuel. I imagine that this ship sits on the fringes of battle and gives the Vipers a mobile unit to dock with and refuel when the need arises. I was toying with some defense concepts for this work, and in the end I gave it a couple token cannons, but itís most effective defense element is the beefy engines in case the battle gets too hot around its hidey-hole and needs to turn tail and flee. The ships of the Colonial Fleet in the 70ís were heavily textured, which fits my style, so I made sure to greeble this thing half to death. What do you think? Yeah. Couldn't resist. Thanks for looking. Let me know what you think? Are you going to be in Schaumburg, Illinois in a couple weeks? Stop by my table to see this build, and maybe say hi or something.
