Sienar Proto-Labs TIE Annihilator . "I want an Interceptor on a regular-type budget! Imagine the savings!" - Emperor Palpatine . What? A new TIE variant? What is this mad sorcery? A vile trick from the dark side? Another attempt to save precious galactic space dollars? Well, we do have a Death Star to rebuild, so... So the idea for the TIE Annihilator was this: What if you could have a version of the Interceptor (complete with additional weaponry and a hyperdrive) that took up 50% less space aboard Star Destroyers? Those overweight TIEs take up too much space! So the Annihilator has folding s-foil type of solar panels. It is also fitted with 4 laser cannons, and two heavy ion cannons for disabling shielding on its targets. The Annihilator may possibly never the see the light of day since, despite its advantages over the standard TIE, it is also more expensive to produce. We've got bills to pay and super weapons to build! We need all the savings we can get! Palpatine is pretty clear on this topic. The other reason the Empire may not approve production of the Annihilator because they've been defeated. So, you know... that sucks. Hope you guys didn't buy two much stock in the Galactic Empire! Those shares aren't even worth Bantha PooDoo! I based the initial design of the Annihilator off of the Inquisitor's TIE Advanced prototype, just so heavily modified that it became it's own thing. I had a lot of fun building this (shh! don't tell Palpatine! He hates it when people have fun!). Thanks for looking! May the Force be with you!
