Cyborg Raceship "Souldriven" . "It's time. (Is this what you want? Are you happy with what we've become? Is this the way you want to live?)" . Story: Welcome race-fans! Today's Cyborg racer profile is "Souldriven" (Devin Townsend 'Infinity'). Now, while it is well known that the conversion from human being to entirely computerised spaceship is generally a safe procedure, occasionally, things do go wrong, which can have to unforseen results. Souldriven is one such case. Originally a hovercar race driver, Timothy Zuker deceided to take that next leap into the digital world and download his mind into a raceship's computer. The operation was smooth and all safety protocols were adhered to. However something went wrong, perhaps if only on the quantum level. All we know for certain is that upon "awakening" in his new state, the new digital Timothy was, for want of a better word, mad. In between bouts of severe pain, he claimed God had chosen him to "save the Solar System". Offers were made to correct this "glitch", however Souldriven, as he now called himself, violently refused. Ordering the engineers to provide him with very large optics, an experimental, long-range rocket engine and clad him in garish colours, he thus declared that God had chosen him for a special purpose. He, and he alone, was to search the Oort Cloud for His Divine Signature. Souldriven related God's story that he had 'signed' his creation, the Universe, with His Holy mark, somewhere in the solar system and Souldriven alone was to find it and prove God's existence, once and for all, and bring peace to Mankind. Why else would God have given humans sentience, if not to find and prove God's existence? So he sets off on his Holy appointed journey, scanning every asteroid, every pebble in the Solar System for God's mark. But his quest is expensive, and he must postpone his search every few years to race and win more prize money that he devotes to his Hunt for the Almighty's Scribble. Be wary, fellow raceships, Souldriven will let NOTHING get in his way... Build: Ok, I know, at first it looks like I've overdosed on Homeworld designs, but Homeworld colours have reason and logic to them. No, I wanted a crazier look-the 80's! The colours and design are based on works by the Memphis design movement of the 1980's, which sought to shock the design establishment with bold, garish colours and offbeat, fun designs. So what do I think of it? To be honest I'm a bit lukewarm with how Souldriven turned out, but it was fun to try something more offbeat, and I became a bit attached to his story (I hope I was able to relate it well). I also had fun with manipulating the photos. What do you think??? You can see the two crazy camera's here. I've circled an area on top (using my Photoshop PROWESS!) that I think is really boring and makes him look flat overall. But I couldn't make anything work there so I gave up. Plan shot. You can see the engine layout where fuel atoms are shot out from the two red tanks and ionised but, ionizing zapper thingy. He also has fenders that protect the fuel ignition hose (yellow) Also has small attitude thrusters (yellow 2x1 brick with 2 blue 1/2 pins) near the base of his "eye" stalks. "No, the!" "rkrkrkrkrkrkrkrkrkrkr, rkrkrk" "......" "Aaarkk!" "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNnnnnnnnn!" "Ah...ah...get out of my way! I MUST win!!" Memphis bookcase thing.
