Roman Legion - First Century AD . . Roman Legions - First Century AD ∑ Helmets (cassis), Imperial helmet-type - for this Iíve selected the Dragon Helmet from a few years ago. ∑ Torso Armour (Lorica segmentata), this was flexible armour, made up of metal strips held together with metal ties. Iíve used the knights torso with a breast plate on, unfortunately they donít include armour over the shoulders ∑ Tunic - the basic garment worn under the torso armour. Iíve portrayed the later type with sleeves Ė included in the torso above ∑ Belt (cingulum) decorated leather strips giving protection during a battle. These belts jangled as the army marched to scare the enemy. OK, Iíve chosen the legs from Princess Leia in the Jubba the Hut kit as I consider this to reflect the tunic over the legs with the belt! ∑ Shields (scutum), was approximately 1m high and had a curve of 800m Ė Iíve purpose made this to try and achieve a shield both the right shape and size (big enough to cover the mini figure) ∑ Spear (In the middle and Late Roman Empire, most Roman infantry used thrusting spears as their main weapons.) Please note that I have not included all items from a Roman Legionís clothing/equipment, such as a sword, scarf, braccae and I am only depicting one period of time. I am also using original Lego parts without any added decals alterations to parts etc.
