Kuranda Scenic Rail - Third iteration . Rake for the KSR. A slowly refined project. . I've been working on the Kuranda Scenic Rail rake for a long time and slowly refining it. The locomotive has stayed mostly unchanged since the very earliest versions but its details have been revised a few times. Since it was one of the first models I posted on MOCpages I thought I'd post the latest update here for the new version. My Flickr set has more details on the whole project/ The locomotive is a QR 1720 class narrow gauge diesel and would usually run in tandem. The colourful Aboriginal mural is what really drew me to this rake. The passenger cars are some of the oldest still in use in Australia. Finding decent images took a while. I've included a Power Functions System battery box and sensor in the lead car in order to have a rake which can operate on non-electrified track. The dark red closed end car. Open end wagons presented a nice change from the closed end ones. As far as I could tell both car types had the same chassis design. Building a decent car in dark green was a bit of a pain, particularly as I own almost no plates.
