The Storming of Long Chan Fort . . Another of my battle scene dioramas built on a 48x48 baseplate. I made this more than two years ago but never got around to uploading it. The basic idea of it was to have a battle that the Yankees would win; thus I brought out a new enemy - the Imperial Chinese, for them. A Yankee expeditionary force lands on Chinese coast, ostensibly to rescue some kidnapped American traders inland by a rogue Chinese governor. To get there, they will head up a river in gunboats. That river though is protected by Long Chan Fort, and the cannons there could make things difficult for the Yankees. Thus the troops will have to storm it. They gather behind sand dunes, ready to attack . . . The Bugler sounds the Charge! The Yankees run towards the fort. They have scaling ladders with them. Chinese pikemen defend the open gate. The soldiers had brought axes to chop into the gate, had it been closed. One side the Chinese hold out, the other is already scaled. Chinese soldier man the ramparts. Yankee Soldiers climb the ladders and rush over. The attack continues. More soldiers storm in. Things aren't going so well the other side. A Chinese pikeman hooks a scaling ladder away from the ramparts. Yankees descend into the Fort. Some of the Chinese fire from the other side and score hits. The Chinese commander fights a Yankee officer.
